What is a Parish Nurse?

February 4, 2007

-A skilled professional nurse with a current active registered nurse license in this state
-A screener for existing or potential health problems utilizing the skills of nursing diagnosis and assessment
-A person of faith committed to promoting “whole person” health (body, mind, spirit)
-A patient/congregational member advocate working with the health/pastoral team to promote patient/congregational rights
-A referral source to needed supports and services within congregational and community health care resourceslynnecurvin.jpg

Mike Jenkins, Administrative Council President, will ask the council to approve Lynne Curvin (pictured right) as parish nurse for W.O.U.M. at the next council meeting. We are so blessed to have one of our newest members who will serve in this capacity on a voluntary basis. Lynne is a registered nurse, employed by Life Care Center of Red Bank. She has already been hard at work assisting our youth and children’s leaders and has conducted a CPR course for our members and the community. She will be providing a “helpful health hints” column in the newsletter each month. Thanks, Lynne, for your willingness to minister to our Church Family in this area.
